Cord Polyester

Cord Polyester
Dye for Elastic (80% polyester) cord?

I Want to Dye these thick elastic cords from white to grey. It’s not exactly fabric polyester (looser weave) so I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this. I just bought regular dye from the fabric store ( the lady said that it should work?)

I would think that your dye would work, especially since you are dying the cord a lighter shade. Most dyes do not take well to man-made materials, though improvements have been made recently. Check to make sure your dye is ok for synthetics…expect some/a lot to wash out when you rinse your cord…the dye may even wear off for sometime afterwards. Check and see if your dye manufacturer also has a solution to “set the dye”. Sometimes a vinegar bath will set it, but with a polyester, I am not so sure. FOLLOW the instructions to the letter…
Good Luck! Have Fun!
