why is brown water coming out of my whirpool tub when the hot water is on?

Tub hasn’t been used in a few years. after running hot water nearby sinks and shower also had brown hot water. After running hot water for a little while it cleared but there is still a brown tint. should i keep running water for longer?
NOTE: other sinks in the house have regular water

Chances are, the faucet to your whirlpool flows faster than your sinks and shower and stirs up the sediment in your hot water heater more. You probably need to drain the sediment from your hot water heater. This should be done on a routine basis. There should be a valve near the bottom of the heater. Attach a hose to it and run the hose outside and let it run until it turns clear. Repeat 2 or 3 times a year and you will extend the life of your water heater by many years!
