Picture Perfect: Choosing the Right Shade for Your Red Quilt
Red is a vivacious color that encompasses so many different feelings: passion, fire, heat and love. I find it one of the most interesting colours as it represents such a diverse range of feelings and emotions. Which explains why it’s critical to be sure you follow these steps when selecting the shade for your next red quilt.
With so many shades there are numerous feelings and effects you can get from picking the right shade for your red quilt. So the shade you should go with actually depends on what the quilt will be used for:
If it is to go on a couch or daybed, you could consider a bright or pastel red. This will right away become the central focal point of any room with an extremely eye-catching color. This may have the bonus effect of bringing heat and light into a room with muted or lifeless colors.
A bright red quilt is also great for kids. You only need to look to childrens toys and movies to see how many of the things the love have red as their main color, i.e. Lightning McQueen and Optimus Prime come to mind as I write this.
A dark red or burgundy is ideal for a sleeping bed as these colors will give off a warm and comforting feeling and blend in nicely with plenty of other colors, especially creams and tan shades. This could also make a bedroom more intimate, as it’ll add an air of love as dark red colours typically do, its quite a sensual colour.
Red also goes nice if you are using a floral pattern. From experience I have found that darker reds typically mix much better with many floral patterns. Occasionally a bright red works very well, but this is just when the flowers themselves are a bright colour, for example tulips of daisies.
The most vital part to selecting the right shade of red is having an objective standpoint. When you are deciding upon the shade of red, get the opinion of 3 different people. You never can tell, one of them might mention a problem or something that you did not consider. This has saved me many hours and heart ache later down the line.
So go forth with confidence and make your next red quilt a winner!
