DANCE – To Ballet or to Jazz?
Hi all. I’m a current street Hip Hop dancer and looking very much to improve and hone my skills on dance as I feel that sometimes I am not really sticking my lines well nor energy/core well – though I try to do my abs (but tolerate those back aches) – perhaps since I wasn’t a sportsperson since young, it may have a bearing on my muscle groups.
Anyhow, I am thinking of taking up another genre of dance to strengthen my dance vocabulary and am looking at either Ballet or Jazz (I hope to master Lyrical Jazz one day)…. question is which one would you advice me to take up ? I am not either trained but picked up Hip Hop from the streets….
to any one who is interested in dance, BALLET IS A MUST.
Soft shoe is best, you won’t reach point until much later. Although Jazz is good option to relax upon, it won’t give you any training to help your technique. you will be amazed how much ballet techinque will improve your hip hop skills.
