Providing For A Baby’s Needs

There are some things that are needed with a new baby and other things that you can do without. If you are on a budget, be sure to choose those things that are absolute necessities.

Your baby will need a bed. A bassinet is normally just a waste of money as the baby will not be able to stay in it for more than a few short months. An adjustable height crib will last the baby for much longer. Many cribs now convert into a toddler bed for the child.

You will find it much easier to give your baby a bath in a small plastic baby bath. This prevents having to get on the floor to bathe the baby in a tub that is much too large.

Unless you choose to go diaperless, you will need to stock up on diapers. The newborn diapers are often to small to be of any use. Small diapers will fit most newborns and can be used for a larger weight range. Most experienced moms will tell you to avoid the store brands that tend to leak.

A baby swing can give a busy mom a break that is well deserved. Be sure that the swing is sturdy.

You absolutely must have a car seat. Without the seat you can get a ticket for transporting a baby in a vehicle. Some hospitals will not allow new parents to bring a baby home unless they have the correct car seat.

Your baby will need to have enough clothes for the messes of the day that occur with babies. Snap leg clothing are great for diaper changes.

Provide your baby with bright toys to aid in his development. You may find that a ball, rattle and mirror are all the toys needed for several months.

In addition, you may need to consider adding heat to the nursery. The babies room may need to be warmer than you keep the rest of the house. A Delonghi space heater will allow you to turn down the heat in the rest of the house but keep the babies room at the correct temperature.
