Getting Ready For A Baby Boy
Baby girls and baby boys use many of the same things, such as diapers and pacifiers, but that doesn’t mean that shopping for a baby boy is the same as for a girl. You will have plenty of choices to make when getting things for your little boy, and you will find many boy items to make your little boy feel at home in his new room, even when he gets a little older.
A baby crib is often the first thing new parents buy for their new baby. It might seem like a good idea to go with a generic color like white or natural wood in case you have another child, but remember that many cribs can now be changed into toddler beds once the child is old enough. That means the first bed your little boy uses as a toddler will be the same color as his crib was. For that reason, a bright color such as dark blue, red or green makes a good choice.
You’ll want to get some baby boy bedding to match the new crib. It should be pretty simple to find matching bedding, regardless of what color the crib is. Bedding with cars, trucks, firemen or superheroes can be enjoyed both when your baby is tiny and once he is old enough to start playing with those types of toys.
You can find some great baby bath toys for little boys, from rubber ducks to floating rings. There are all kinds of boats that your baby can play with. When he is older, he will enjoy making up stories about the people who are riding in the boats. Or maybe he’ll just crash them together and make them sink to the bottom of the tub.
Hang a nice mobile over the crib for your baby to watch as he is drifting off to sleep. There are mobiles with many different types of items hanging from them. It’s not important what you choose as long as it is brightly colored to catch and hold the baby’s attention.
Clothing for baby boys is often light blue, but there are brighter colors as well, and even browns, blacks and olive green. With so much variety, you baby boy can have a wardrobe that rivals most baby girls’ – after all, their clothes are mostly all pink.
Now that you’ve got everything you need for the baby, don’t forget about painting your little boy’s room. You should try to pick a color that complements the furniture without making the room feel too dark or crowded. Lighter colors are usually best. Once you have that done, all you have to do is wait for the baby’s arrival.
