Which is the side of interfacing to “iron on”?

I am working on a craft project I can’t remember which side is which to iron on an applique using interfacing. The shiny side or dull side? I need to iron on the applique and then attach that to the other fabric. thanks.

Well, if it is one sided then you it isn’t going to stick to the other fabric. You need to use heat n bond for this or any paper backed web. You iron the fusible side to the applique and then peel the paper off and iron the other side of the applique to the other fabric. Another method of appliqueing is to leave a seam allowance on the applique, cut the applique shape out of the web, sew the web and the applique right sides together, snip a hole in the web and turn the piece right side out. Finger iron it, then all you have to do is iron the applique on. You can leave it like that or sew a button hole stitch around it for decoration. Doing it this way, you will have a finished edge that will not fray!
