Review Of The Superb Lightweight Big Agnes Seedhouse 3 Tent ( Part 2 Of 2)

This is the second instalment of a two part review of the really great light weight three person Big Agnes Seedhouse 3 tent.

The fly on the Big Agnes Seedhouse 3 is made of high quality 40D nylon rip-stop with a silicone treatment and 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating while the tent body is 40D nylon mesh permitting excellent bug free cross ventilation on even the warmest summer night. The flooring is 70D, 190T nylon with a 1500mm waterproof polyurethane coating. A “D” shaped door give good clearance as it leads from the vestibule to the good sized tent body where there are two generously sized and really useful mesh floor pockets. There is a storm flap over the vestibule zipper and the vestibule door boasts a useful window as an additional feature. All seams are taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane (No PVC or VOC’s) tape and 11 superlight aluminum stakes are included. Loops are ready fitted to take the Big Agnes trapezoid gear loft to store all that extra kit well out of your way (sold separately).

This fantastic tent comes in at a trail weight of just 5lb 6oz and with a full packed weight of only 5lb 11oz, you won’t be put off taking the floor protecting  foolprint along too, weighing a mere 11oz. A good tip is to purchase a footprint for your tent as it reduces the risk of damage from sharp objects on the ground and general wear and tear to the floor and significantly increasing the useful life of your tent . Look for a supplier who offers a free footprint with their tents as these can cost  $30 to $50 or more to buy seperately.

If however, you are looking for an even lighter weight 3 person tent you might like to consider the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3 or for something a bit smaller the Fly Creek UL 2 .
