Purpose Driven Marketing: How to Bring Purpose and Integrity to the Heart of Your Business

Is there a such thing as Purpose Driven Marketing? There is so much talk and information out there about two really big trends and concepts in business (and in life):  the idea of brand marketing and the idea of living with and on purpose.  Both are very important.  When it comes to business, it is so important that you develop and define the brand for your company.  And additionally, it is so crucial to live and conduct yourself and your business in a way that is in line with your purpose and passion in life.  That you do everything in such a way that you aren’t doing it just to go through the motions but that you are truly acting with purpose and true intention in everything that you do.

But how do you bring these two important concepts together?  Turning brand marketing and being purpose driven into something more:  How about, Purpose Driven Marketing?  How do you have a business that has an authentic and effective brand marketing campaign, and how do you conduct your business with purpose, meaning and heart?  Better yet, what if that was your brand message, or a big part of it?  What if you made a commitment within your business, to stand out from the crowd with a real mission that was so full of your life’s purpose and passion that it was literally interwoven within your company’s brand message.  Well, chances are, if you’re even reading this article, that is something you’d like to do;  to bring real purpose and meaning, not only to your life but to your business and reach out to touch lives in everything that you do.

So here are some ideas on how you can do that:

Purpose Driven Marketing-  How to Let Your Purpose Drive Your Life, Brand and Marketing:

1.  Write Your Mission Statement: First of all, when it comes to purpose driven marketing, you should know the goals of your company and why you and your company exists and then write it out as your mission statement.  You need to know without a shadow of a doubt why you are doing what you’re doing in the first place.  Why did you start your company?  What was your motivation for entering the marketplace?  Why does your company exist and what does it have to offer the world?  Until you have a clear reason and purpose for being in business, you will have no motivation, foundation or direction for continuing on.  So if you are a new company getting started, your first step is to define who you are and what your company stands for and then write it down so that you can stay focused with the purpose and goals that you have for your company.

2.  Never Sacrifice Integrity for Marketing: Also with, purpose driven marketing, you need to always remember who you are and what you stand for.  Never sacrifice your integrity and values to market an image or message that isn’t true to who you are.  Being honest and authentic is always better for everyone; both you and the people who are watching you.  When you strive to live and conduct your business with real integrity and authenticity, then your goal of having a business that is lead with purpose and intention will be much more effective and successful.

3.  Forget Branding! Wait, forget branding?  Isn’t that what business is all about?  Carving out a brand and reputation for your company?  Well, yes and no.  Sometimes the concept of branding becomes too much of a catch phrase and people get overly concerned with how they are presenting themselves or the picture they are painting through social media and other forms of marketing.  Yes, branding is critical to the success of any business, but don’t get so caught up with it that you put the cart before the horse.  You can’t develop your brand until you know your purpose.  If you have to choose between focusing on branding or your purpose, choose Purpose.

What Purpose Driven Marketing is Really All About:

Ultimately, your brand and reputation will become successful only when you are truly committed to following your purpose and conducting your business with integrity.  That is what purpose driven marketing is all about.  Your brand and reputation is something that you earn, more than something you can ever create or force people to believe.  When other people start to observe who you are both in life and business, then the brand will naturally follow in your footsteps.

Brand marketing and living a life of purpose are both really important concepts and passions of mine and its definitely possible to have both when it comes to your business.  When you put your purpose and integrity first and focus on living out the life that God has called you to, then I believe you will be lead to fulfill your purpose within your business as well and be able to use it to bring blessing to those around you.  Purpose driven marketing is really all about communicating your message in a way that strives to always stay in line with who you really are.  A person on a mission; full of purpose, meaning and heart.
